Operation Firestorm
Area of operations – Rampage Airsoft Edmonton AB
The former Eastern Bloc nation of Vostoika, long simmering with internal tension, finds itself on the brink of full-scale conflict. International concerns have been raised after a week of unrest which saw a well armed group of militants calling themselves the ‘Iron Storm Battalion’ seize control of the resource rich and strategically vital region known as the Novaya Valley.
The fighting started last week in the capital city of Kalinsk when residents awoke to the sound of explosions and gunfire at the crack of dawn. ‘Iron Storm’ surprise attacks on military outposts and personnel almost crippled the nation’s already stretched and vastly underfunded military force. After two days of ferocious street skirmishes and the steely resolve of the National Army, control was regained of the capital with rebel forces retreating to the Novaya Valley which was captured in the initial outbreak of the uprising. Lacking resources to effectively counter the threat, Vostoikas’ government appealed for help from further afield.
NATO had already begun to pay close attention to the geopolitical situation of the region as they started to suspect Russian influence in a number of separatist movements inside Vostoika’s borders. On the morning of June 6th, NATO leaders held an emergency meeting and made a unanimous decision to assemble a multinational task force to counter the insurgency and restore stability to the region. NATO aircraft are already in the air conducting ISTAR operations and VJTF units have been deployed to a staging area in preparation for a ground offensive as Operation Firestorm is green lit.
